Gazelles Match Report – 26th January

Last Sunday the Gazelles welcomed Plymouth to Broadwater, having lost by only 2 points earlier in the season and having never beaten Plymouth the Gazelles were fired up to finally get one over on a team that had been a general banana skin for the last few years. This week's news

Following an inspection on Saturday morning the pitches were deemed playable following the heavy rainfall last week, and the players duly prepared to kick off at 2:30. So did Storm Dennis, rolling in with some fanfare pretty much on the whistle and making life generally unpleasant for everyone out of doors! The 1st XV ensured a tough 80 minutes against promotion-chasing Wimbledon, while the 3rd XV opted to play a friendly against Chobham 2nd XV (after taking a walkover in their league game with Weybridge Vandals) and took a narrow win after a clinical performance on the back pitches.

The 1st XV travel to league-leaders Rochford Hundred on Saturday as the 3rd XV host local rivals Cranleigh 2nd XV at Broadwater Park while the Gazelles face a crunch game on Sunday as they look to nail down second place, taking on Portsmouth Valkyries at Home on Sunday – Come on Gs!! The clubhouse is also open for the 6 Nations games…

Heads up – the Vets host Henley Vets next Friday Night, kicking off at 7:45 – unbeaten in the league, a win would see them take first place at a canter! Book the night off 👍
