U13 Boys Cranleigh School Tournament

A squad of 16 U13s headed to Cranleigh School on 24th September for an invitational tournament, with 5 teams per age group.  After the first few weeks of shorts and t-shirts on the sidelines, the parents on the sideline were reminded by the fresh breeze off the South Downs that winter is coming and that we need to dig deeper into the wardrobe if we are to be able to stand and support for two hours at a time.

The campaign commenced against Rosslyn Park who started off as physically as they always do and raced to a 2-0 lead. The Guildford boys settled themselves and played to Rob and Gein’s instructions and fought back to win 4-3.  Old rivals Farnham were up next and we were pleased to continue our winning streak against them of the past two years.

We then had the local double header vs Old Cranleighans followed immediately by Cranleigh. The OCs were tough opposition and Guildford let a few plays through so found themselves on the back foot but again fought back from behind for a thrilling win which led to a huge roar from the parents who had been pacing the sideline to keep warm. Guildford had hit their stride by this time and easily rolled Cranleigh to be the undefeated team of the day.

There were so many excellent performances but a shout out must be made to Seb Moss who’s hat trick of tries helped turn the first match vs Rosalyn Park around and he went on to score about 2/3 of Guildford’s 16 tries of the day.

A great morning out at Cranleigh and hopefully a sign of more victories for the U13s this season.
