The U15 boys travelled to Richmond on Sunday for the third of their Quins Cup matches.
Despite territorial dominance Guildford went down a try after a Richmond kick and chase and a typical rugby ball bounce. The first half remained extremely combative with some strong surges from Richmond. However, the Guildford defence was exceptionally tight and the team took their chances with two close quarter tries to go into half time leading 5 -12.
Whilst the play remained highly contested Guildford were largely dominant in the second half scoring a third try through the pack and to finish a cross field kick gathered on the full for a try in the corner to win 5-24.
It was particularly pleasing to watch the boys playing with increased structure and linkages between the forwards and backs. Most importantly the game was played in a tremendous spirit enjoyed by players and supporters alike.
This coming Sunday we have Old Cranleighans at home in the penultimate round of the Quins Cup, along with a second fixture at home against Old Reigatians. Given our growing numbers we hope to be able to regularly field two teams on a Sunday.
