This Saturday the Meath Epilepsy Charity in Godalming need some help and any volunteers would be gratefully welcomed (and given tea and cake). Their garden furniture needs cleaning and oiling ahead of the winter, weather permitting this will take place from 11am-2pm hopefully on the front lawn but under cover if need be. They do need to know who will be coming so please email if you are able to help!
Tournament rugby returned to Broadwater Park last weekend, with 8 teams contesting the first prizes of the year as the Touch 10’s tournament kicked off on Saturday.
Run over two pitches the competition started hard from the first whistle and did not let up, with everyone enjoying the option of rolling subs on a very hot afternon. With teams of 10 made up from all the senior sides plus the Colts (and parents!) there was plenty of scope for open rugby and the early games saw a flurry of tries as everyone got to know each other!
With matches strictly limited to 8-minute halves the pool stages flew by and the spectators were treated to a steady stream of fast rugby, swan dives and quick turnovers as players rotated to keep fresh legs on the pitch.
As the afternoon drew to a close and the BBQ was fired up the Colt Gold side took on Guildford Yellows to decide 1st and 2nd spots, with the Yellows eventually coming out on top in a very close match to round out what was a really superb day – thank you to all who organised and attended, and keep your eyes peeled for the next one…
And finally the Lions will be returning over the October half-term with three days of activities and training, so if you are in the U7s-U12s make sure you put your name down fast as spaces will be limited!
See you soon
