U15s Girls National Cup Match – Sept 29th 2019
Guildford / Chobham v Winchester Girls U15s
5 – 38 Final Score
0 – 26 at half time
Guildford U15s partnered with Chobham to enter a full side into this RFU National Cup Competition. Our girls made a good game of it against a more experienced side in Winchester, who were well drilled with 4 years’ experience behind them.
Guildford/Chobham showed superior rucking technique and made some good turnovers, Winchester ran their line well and took the ball forward through their centres capitalising on Guildford/Chobham’s scrambling defence.
In the second half and with fresh legs coming off the bench to strengthen our back line, the game was much more competitive
The ref, Matt Lowndes, commented on how well –disciplined the girls were, with “quite a high level of physicality” for a novice side.
It was, most importantly, injury free and thoroughly enjoyable for all who played.

5 – 12 Final Score
5 – 3 half time
The U13 Girls had a good early season run out on Sunday versus Chobham Girls. The first half was especially pleasing, with some good tries scored by Guildford taking a 2 try lead into the break.
There was some good passing and rucking, and the wingers did get some ball, though not enough. The girls showed great team spirit and kept their heads on in the second half.
In future play, the girls will focus on maintaining width to avoid the wings getting pulled into the centre. Also, there was one formidable ball carrier on the opposing team and working on 2 on 1 tacking before the next match against Chobham on Oct 27th, our first Waterfall Cup, will be useful.
A massive thank you to the coaching staff, friends and parents for giving this young team such great support from the touchlines.
