Dear Fellow Members,
I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas and the Holidays with your families.
My last Letter was before the Holidays, so I will jump right into what is happening at the Club since the New Year.
After the Christmas break, the rugby continued with back to back games through January before the start of the 6 Nations. The men’s first team took 2 from ?, including a good win away against Tunbridge Wells and now enter a tricky patch with games away against Westcliffe and Wimbledon in February, before returning home against Brentwood on 3rd March.
Our Under 21s won both their games over the holiday and continue to promise good things for the future. Additionally, the all conquering Gazelles beat league leaders Newbury Ladies at Broadwater and continue to raise expectations!!
Elsewhere, our U11 and U13 girls continue to thrive under the coaching of Harlequin Chloe Butler. They are regularly putting teams out for matches with other clubs in the area. With our girls section being only a year old, it’s fantastic that 8 of our U13 girls are going to County trials in February.
I’d also like to wish our Coach Kyle Sinckler all the best for the upcoming 6 Nations, lining up opposite Ireland in Dublin on Saturday. Please do come down to the Club to watch the game and cheer him on!
I would like to announce that our next City Lunch will be held on March 29th. These lunches are not only a great time, but also Vital to our Club’s finances. Details will follow and I ask you all to please join us. It would be great to have Year Groups get a table and to have representation from across the Club for a fun day.
As you all know from our AGM in December, Bric Tyson has joined the Board as President of the Club, and Roy O’Brien has joined as Commercial Director. We welcome them both to the Board and have already enjoyed their contributions.
Roy has added some new members to the Commercial Committee with representation from various areas of the Club and they had their first Meeting with the expanded group last week. Additionally, we have mentioned many times in the past, we need more Members involved. There are many committees that need more seats filled including the Commercial, Finance/ Treasury, Events, and Communications so please reach out to me if you have interest and we can discuss the best area for you to help out. There are many ways to help support your Club and get involved.
Please come down to the Club and enjoy. With 6 Nations here, there is no better place to watch then at your Club. I look forward to seeing you all!!
Lastly, on behalf of the entire Board, I would like to Thank all of you for your trust in managing our Club. It’s an honour for us to serve you and our Club.
All the best
